The mattress features Royal-Pedic's double heat tempered, Royal-Flex® innerspring system designed in Switzerland. The innerspring unit contains 85% more coils than is standard. The coils in the mattress are open ended, unknotted, six turn coils providing more flexibility, which means greater sensitivity to body contours, overall body support and relaxation. Royal Pedic's skilled craftsmen inner-tuft the mattress by hand with over 50 pounds of pre-compressed, layered staple cotton in a king size! No polyurethane foam padding is in the mattress so you have extended durability and lasting support for your body. Upper mattress construction includes a thick layer of natural latex, hypoallergenic Comfort Fil 7, and untreated lamb's wool from the South of France, which is encased in Royal-Pedic's soft and breathable Belgian cotton covering for the ultimate in comfort. Royal-Pedic Box Spring construction is the finest available. A Royal-Pedic boxspring provides 22% more coils than is standard for extra support and durability, and have 50% more coils located in the center-third of the box spring to support the body better (40% of our body weight is located in our torso area). The thickness of Royal Pedic's coil wire is an extra heavy duty 8 3/4 gauge compared to the standard 9 1/2 gauge wire. Every Royal Pedic box spring contains a layer of staple cotton padding for added support for the underside of the mattress. Brass corner guards are installed on all corners, rather than the plastic ones that break off easily, and heavy duty cotton fabric is used on the underside of the box spring, instead of the thin synthetic sheeting that commonly droops and frays easily. You will only get the best with Royal-Pedic! Note on box springs: Typically Royal-Pedic does not hand tie their box springs. This method of holding the coils in place with cording can result in a lumpy mattress. The cording can and does stretch, which forces the coil out of position on an angle. Instead of hand tied box springs, Royal-Pedic uses a wire system called the Webster Lock Grid System to keep the coils in place. Steel wire is woven throughout the tops of the coils to secure the coil in place to eliminate the possibility of any lateral movement.
